Prophetic This is a short teaching on different aspects of the prophetic, just a taste of what you would be learning in one of Rivergate classes Spirit of prophecy: this is when Holy Spirit moves over a group of people and all begin to prophecy. There is no training for this just receive and release what is given to you. Gift of prophecy: this is a gift given by Holy Spirit to anyone, it is one of the nine gifts. Corinthians 12:4,10:now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit.....and to another prophecy....This is given for the edification, encourage and at times guide. This is for the Body to encourage and uplift one another in the Lord. Even those who are not saved can have the gift of prophecy. Who your source is, is the most important factor of prophecy. It is important you are receiving revelation from Holy Spirit and not from your own imagination or demons. You can ask and are told in I Corinthians to pursue this gift for the good of others and the Church. This a great way to witness in the market place. Office of a prophet: is a person called by God to guide, direct, teach and correct the Body. This is a gift to the Body by God. Ephesians 4:11...He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, and some as evangelists and some as pastors and teachers for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the Body of Christ.... It is an awesome responsibility to speak in the name of the Lord. If you are pursuing the gift of prophecy or have been called by God to be a prophet it is wise to “study to show thy self approved as a workman who need not be ashamed.” What we see in the spirit realm must be real to us if we are to prophesy. We are declaring what we see in the spirit and releasing it here on earth. Seeing things as they should be, not as we may see them now. Romans 4:17..The story of "Dry bones" in Ezekiel 37 is just that kind of testing we need as prophetic people, to see as God sees. Not adding our own assumptions. Most of the time the Lord is only giving a general revelation. So that we seek and press into Him for more. We get revelation in different forms, It is good to know biblical symbolism so you interpret what you are seeing. There are levels of revelation. Impressions: this is the lowest level. These are general revelations that we have to put words to, We get this from what we sense in the spirit. Visions: this is the next level of prophetic revelation. These you can see with the eye of your heart or open visions that you see with your natural eye, like a movie. Dreams: you get when you sleep, like visions have different levels of clarity and revelation. Trances: this is the highest form. In Acts 10:10 Peter fell into a trance and what given instructions from the Lord. This is like you are asleep but awake. There are other forms of revelation that come from God,,, hearing His Voice, angelic encounters, see signs in the heavens and visitations, smells and touch. Having the mind of Christ, the fruits of the Spirit, trusting in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, He will make your paths straight. When first stepping out in prophecy you will make mistakes, but learn from them and go forward. It is an honor to speak on behalf of our Lord. You can change someone's life for the better, bring healing and be a light to a dark and perishing world. What better way than to declare the word of the Lord to some one, help them to see Jesus and His awesome love for them. Ways of improving on your accuracy are: spending time in the word, study and learn from other prophets and prophetic people, go to prophetic schools, soaking in His Presence and worship Him. Living a life of purity and righteousness. Removing and changing what God tells you to do out of love and obedience to Him. The more God trusts you the more He shows and will share with you. We are to trust Him, but He needs to be able to trust us with His words. You can do harm or goodness with your words. The clearer your revelation the more accurate your words Proverbs 18:21..death and life are in the power of the tongue, those who love it will eat it fruit. Isaiah 50:4..the Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples, that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word, He awakens Me morning by morning He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple... |
